Retaining Rings

Narrow Your Results By
Retaining rings (snap rings) are precision-stamped or wire-formed fasteners that seat in grooves on shafts or inside bores to provide axial retention of bearings, gears, hubs, and other components without threading, welding, or secondary fasteners. Blue Ribbon Fastener stocks external (shaft groove) and internal (bore groove) retaining rings in carbon steel, stainless steel, and beryllium copper in a full range of shaft and bore diameters for mechanical and precision assembly applications.

Usages for Retaining Rings

Retaining rings are used to retain bearings, bushings, gears, pulleys, and pins against axial displacement in rotating and reciprocating assemblies. External retaining rings seat in a groove on a shaft or pin, preventing a component from sliding off the end; internal retaining rings seat in a bore groove to retain a bearing, bushing, or pin from being pushed through. Common applications include gearboxes, electric motors, pumps, hydraulic cylinders, automotive drivetrain components, conveyors, agricultural equipment, and industrial machinery.

Retaining Rings for all Industries

Retaining rings are used across industrial machinery manufacturing, automotive and truck drivetrain production, agricultural and construction equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic system assembly, electric motor production, pump and compressor manufacturing, and general mechanical assembly. Mechanical engineers and production assemblers specify retaining rings as standard retention components wherever axial load must be reacted without threaded fasteners or welded stops. Blue Ribbon Fastener provides retaining rings in the styles, materials, and diameter ranges that cover most standard mechanical assembly requirements.
